Hi everyone, hope you're all having a good week so far. Mine has been a bit of a mixed bag - I had two interviews yesterday and another today, but I've had lots of much-needed friend time too, which has been just amazing after all this time without them in my life. On Tuesday, I went for lunch at Yukisan, a gorgeous little Japanese place, with my friend Aimee, who has incidentally also just moved back to our hometown after years away. I literally hadn't seen her in an age, so when we were at the pub on Saturday we decided to meet up, just the two of us, for a good old catch-up. We ate lots - I had miso salmon for starters, which was pretty incredible, followed by a ginormous portion of chicken udon, half of which came home with me in a takeaway box! Later on, we wandered up to the seafront and treated ourselves to a cheeky afternoon glass of wine, with stunning views out over Plymouth Sound. I've repeatedly said this to friends and family since I've been back, but it really is such a beautiful city, and it's only after living away for a number of years and moving back that I finally appreciate it in the way it deserves. When I was younger, I couldn't wait to get out, and yet now there is nowhere I'd rather be.
Our friend Fran and her baby boy came over to meet us later on, and we popped down onto the pebble beach below the cafe so that he could splash in some puddles and generally get up to mischief. It was so, so nice to be able to just have a girly day and get each other up to date on our lives. While I've been pretty eager to get working, I'm so grateful to have had this free time to spend with people before I get back to the daily grind. Incidentally, I got the job I had an interview for today, so that's pretty good, although they won't let me start for a couple more weeks as I'd need time off for a wedding if I were to start now. I had a telephone interview for a job I would enjoy far more yesterday, but I've been told not to expect a call back on that until Monday or Tuesday, as one of the company directors is apparently away until then. Fingers crossed!
Excuse me for the poor quality photos in this post - I mistakenly thought I could trust my new i-phone to do the job, having heard nothing but praise for their cameras, but alas, that is clearly not the case.
